The Community Hall of Yarmouth and District (CHOYD) is available for hire; with a convenient location and fantastic range of facilities and equipment, the Hall is an ideal venue for many activities, celebrations and events.
We host many great parties, performances, wedding receptions, corporate and charity events, meetings, sales, training classes, social evenings, games, exercise lessons, exhibitions and music of all kinds. For more information, see Hiring the Hall
Our traditional Hall has an interesting history having been built in the 1910's originally as a Liberal Club; later becoming the Yarmouth Institute (a private members club); and in 2015 it was acquired for the whole community.
Since 2018 it has also provided an office for the Town Clerk
who is available every Tuesday and Thursday morning (see the What’s On
page for contact details and times).
CHOYD is a registered charity run by trustees and supported by other volunteers. The object of the charity is "the provision and maintenance of a community hall for the use of the inhabitants of Yarmouth and district, without distinction of political, religious or other opinions, including use for: meetings, lectures and classes, and other forms of recreation and leisure-time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the inhabitants."
As funds become available*
we continuously improve and update the facilities. This includes: new central heating, wiring, windows and decorating. We have a smart new kitchen
and improved toilet facilities including a brand new disabled loo
, storage and office space. We welcome your suggestions
for other improvements.
There are many regular activities
(see the What’s On
page) that everyone is welcome to attend. See Joining In
to find out how you can get involved and see more about the current volunteers.
