Welcome to the Community Hall of Yarmouth and District (CHOYD) an increasingly popular venue for all sorts of activities and events, see the diary on our Hall Calendar page. As well as being used for the local community, the Hall is also available for hire. With a convenient location and range of facilities, the Hall is an ideal venue for gathering people together.

We host many great parties, performances, wedding receptions, corporate and charity events, meetings, sales, training classes, social evenings, games, exercise lessons, exhibitions and all kinds of music. See Hiring the Hall.

Our traditional Hall has an interesting history having been built in the 1910's originally as a Liberal Club; later becoming the Yarmouth Institute (a private members club); and in 2015 it was acquired for the whole community.

It also provides an office for the Town Clerk and is used as a Polling Station and a venue for some of the Yarmouth Town Council meetings. (details and times are on our Hall Calendar page).

CHOYD is a registered charity run by trustees and supported by other volunteers. The object of the charity is "the provision and maintenance of a community hall for the use of the inhabitants of Yarmouth and district, without distinction of political, religious or other opinions, including use for: meetings, lectures and classes, and other forms of recreation and leisure-time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the inhabitants."

As funds become available* we continuously improve and update the facilities. In the past 8 years we have replaced the heating, wiring, windows, doors and installed a smart modern kitchen. There are new toilets, including an accessible disabled loo; improved lighting and a new partition with sound proofing. In addition, most of the Hall has been redecorated and the furniture reupholstered. We welcome your suggestions for other improvements.

Everybody is welcome to attend our many regular activities (there's a summary on the What’s On page). See Joining In to find out how you can get involved and information about our current trustees and supporters (all volunteers).

* In addition to the practical efforts of our hard-working volunteers, we are very grateful for the financial support we have received from: Yarmouth Harbour Commissioners; Yarmouth Town Council; Delphi Lakeman Memorial Trust; Herapath Shenton Trust; The Daisie Rich Trust; and others. We'd also like to thank the organisers and attendees of CHOYD events (paticularly the Coffee Mornings and ever popular CHOYD Quiz), plus those who have given anonymous donations and legacies. Thank You All!
